Geography


Location: Thailand is located in the Southeastern part of Asia. Thailand is surrounded by Myanmar in the northwestern side, Burma in the northern side, Laos in the north and north eastern side and Cambodia  in the eastern side of the country. Thailand is bordered by Andaman Sea in the east and Gulf of Thailand in the south (Wikipedia).

Size: Thailand has a total of 513,120 sq km area coverage. In comparison to Continental U.S., Thailand is 0.064 %. The world fact book says that Thailand is "slightly more than twice the size of Wyoming."

Terrain: Thailand's terrain are consists of high mountains, a central plain, and an plateau. Hills of northern Thailand consists of Thanon Thong Chai Range. The eastern side is consists of Khorat Plateau and is bordered by Mekong River. The central plain of the country is mainly dominated by flat Chao Phraya river valley. And, finally the southern part which is called Phuket chain is extended from Tenasserim range extending further northwards to the Three pagodas Pass.

Other than Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, the Chao Phraya and the Mekong River are the main rivers of Thailand (Wikipedia).
